About John Vaughan
John Vaughan is a Missouri-licensed attorney based in Springfield, Missouri.
John has spent his formative years in Memphis, Tennessee, in the Kansas City area, and in southwest Missouri.
John earned his Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in Business, Political Science and History from Southwest Baptist University in 1994.
Thereafter, he received his Juris Doctor from University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1997 and passed the Missouri Bar exam that year.
Since 1998, John has practiced law in southwest Missouri with several local law firms and has managed his own firm and private practice since 2001.
Over the years, John has volunteered in leadership capacities with Boy Scouts of America, YoungLife, Springfield Creatives, and other organizations in the Springfield community.
John has also been very involved in the local church community as a member and key leader at Fellowship Bible Church and at The Venues.
Since 2007, John Vaughan has served as in-house counsel for a major religious nonprofit, serving as corporate counsel in the world of charitable estate planning, planned giving and complex charitable giving tools, such as donor advised funds, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, endowments, life estate and more. His day-to-day work as an in-house attorney also involves trust and probate management, real estate finance, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and international transactional law. All of this experience helps build his experience and knowledge base to help private clients as well.

417law is the private law practice of Missouri attorney John Vaughan. John Vaughan's current private practice is extremely limited due to the demands of his in-house counsel practice. But he serves a small number of clients through Vaughan Law, LLC, doing business under the name 417law as well, in the areas of for-profit entities and LLCs, business law, complex transactions, estate planning, charitable planned giving, nonprofits and charities, and he works on all manner of contracts and other legal documents. He also regularly consults with startup businesses with a focus toward creative and digital technology, serves as outside general counsel for a variety of businesses, and also serves as counsel for municipalities and non-profits.
